The Butterfly Effect Jan 31, 2004

celebration cinema - mt. pleasant, mi

This movie should be called "the mind numbing effect". The first half of the movie i kept thinking "when are they going to reveal the point of this movie?" Basically, if you've paid attention to the previews you've gotten the gist of the movie. I will say there were some shocking moments that made some scenes interesting. The butterfly effect was like a dramatic version of the movie groundhog's  day. This movie is definitely a matinee or wait till video. by j.moore

December

Im going to let my partner in crime handle the majority of the reviews for this month since im still a slacker. Let's see what Mz. Jennifer has for u.

Bad Santa Dec 26, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

Bad Santa was a bad movie. I went to see this movie because Lord of the Rings was sold out (imagine that).  Anyway, if you're into profanity and crude humor this is the movie for you. However, if you don't want to leave the theater feeling like you need to take a shower and go to church then stay AWAY from Bad Santa. The movie lacked story line. I guess the writers decided they couldn't think of any jokes so they littered the lines w/ loads of profanity. This movie can definitely wait until 2 for 1 rental.by j.moore

Paycheck Dec 25, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

Merry Christmas. Once again me and the dynamic Mz. Moore spend our paychecks to see a movie about paychecks. If a movie has anything to do with the future, technology, or the impossible, it's a winner in my book. I loved this movie. I think it was too over the top with the way he was figuring out all those clues but hey, it's sci-fi. Mz. Moore how ever, wishes, that the producers that be, would have chose a different actor for the leading role. Me too. Im not Ben Alf(he does look like alf) fan at all. Sure, I liked him in Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy but those weren't action adventures. Look what he did to Daredevil. He should be arrested. Thank God he didn't mess up Paycheck. by k.collins

Lotr-The Return of the King Dec 20, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

Epic. That is the best word that I can possible use to describe this movie. Every thing that was done was done to perfection. From the battles to the landscape and scenery. I felt like I was actually in middle earth. I highly recommend seeing this movie but I do have to give one word of caution. What ever you do. Please ! Please! See this movie before 5pm. It's a very Looooooong movie. I missed three birthdays when I seen this movie. lol by k.collins

Mona Lisa Smile Dec 19, 2003

Celebration Cinema - Mt. Pleasant, MI

I went to see Mona Lisa Smile at Celebration Cinema in Mt. Pleasant, MI. This movie is an empowering, thought provoking chick flick. Although I think Kirstin Dunst sucks as an actress, the performances delivered by the Julia's (Roberts and Stiles) were great. This movie is great for girlfriends, sisters and mothers. by j.moore

The Last Samurai Dec 5, 2003

Celebration Cinema - Mt. Pleasant, MI

This movie is a must see. Actually, it's more like a film. I'll warn you the movie is 144 minutes, but it's worth your time. Excellent story line and fantastic action sequences. I think this is the most graphic Cruise movie to date. Speaking of Cruise...he and co-star Ken Wantanabe deliver wonderful performances. They deserve an award for best on screen duo. Samurai has a great mixture of action, drama and humor. Then again, maybe it was the lady next to me who kept gasping for breath and saying "Oh No"!! Mam, it's just a movie. ;-)

November

Gothika nov 21, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

Ms. Berry, Ms. Berry. How I love Ms. Berry. Very good movie. This is one of those movies that makes going to the movies enjoyable. Here you have a good plot that wasn't given away by the previews. All of the actors were very good. And Halle plays a respectable wife. Bravo !!! Bravo!! This movie is going to be a must have for my DVD collection. by k.collins

The Matrix Revolutions Nov 5, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

This movie jumps right in where the first movie left off. It's action packed. there are alot of turns and twist in the plot and if you think you could figure out the ending before seeing the final installment.... I have news for ya. You know nada. They really expanded the direction of this movie with room for prequels and stories based off support characters. Go see this movie and prepare to be content and confused. by k.collins

October

Scary Movie 3 oct 24, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

Once again Khari was all alone but that's o.k. because this movie was too funny. I would have embarrassed myself had I have been with someone. This was just too much. They really out did themselves this time. This movie reminded me of the "Naked Gun" franchise. Do any of yall remember "Hot Shots part Deux"? That was the funniest movie ever and this movie is trying to take the crown. If you haven't seen it, don't walk, RUN to the nearest theater and treat yourself. by k.collins

Texas Chainsaw Massacre oct 17, 2003

Star Cinema - Grandrapids, MI

A lil' change of pace on this one. See, I usually go see every movie at Kalamazoo 10. But this time I had the opportunity to go see this movie at the Star in Grandrapids. And I wasn't alone either. yeah!! Ok, first of all, this theater was packed. Every college kid in the  city must have been in attendance. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this movie or not. I really didn't care for the first "Massacre" when it came out. Or should I say when I saw it(im not that old). And to my surprise, I like it. It's nice to have a big plate of steak and potatoes. But when you add desert. That makes it even better and that desert came in the form of the guy who played the drill sergeant in "Full Metal Jacket". He was so funny. He made the movie for me. by k.collins

House of the Dead oct 11, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

You would think that after seeing two movies the previous day that I would be satisfied. Nope. To give you a little history, Sega is my most favorite video game company in the world. I have had many arguments defending Sega to the likes of Kory, Dexter, Don Chini, and Chima. So out of love for Sega, I went to support there movie. Let me tell you. The effects in the movie are great. But the actors...........lol. My lil brothers can act better than that. As Nkinzi would say," Khari! What do you have me watching!! The actors need more training!!". The acting was bad. I can't even give them a "D". I have to give them an "O" on that. Somebody needs to throw the casting director in jail. by k.collins

Intolerable Cruelty oct 10, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

Can you believe that I went to see this on the same day I went to see Kill Bill? I swear there were too many movies coming out that weekend. Ok, this time  I wasn't alone. I was with Ms. Ebert herself.......Jennifer(ms15). The movie was so funny. I couldn't stop laughing. Jennifer was laughing so hard that she choked on her popcorn. I almost had to call 911. LOL. "There's only love in mind, when the massy is signed!!" " Dear!!! Your exposed!!" LOL by k.collins

Kill Bill Volume 1 oct 10, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

I went to go see this as soon as I got out of work. By myself of course. Since Im a big fan of Quentin, I knew I was in for a treat. Good movie. It truly captured the essence of the ol' skool kung fu flicks. My favorite part is when Lucy Lu walks across that table after being disrespected. LOL. Can't wait until part 2. by k.collins

Out of time oct 4, 2003

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

I went to go see this one by myself. I was supposed to go see this movie Friday with Jennifer(ms15), but we were having to much fun at the Loy Norrix 93' class reunion. This was Denzel at his finest. If you have heart problems.... "be warned!!!" There is a lot of suspense. It's like a roller coaster ride(wheeeeee!!!). Definitely a must have for the DVD collection. by k.collins

The Matrix Reloaded

Kalamazoo 10 - Kalamazoo, MI

I thought that this movie was pretty good. I didn't like it as good as the first one or even better than X-Men 2, but I still liked it. It had a some very good special effects. My uncle Larry really liked it. This is what he had to say about it. by k.collins
